Reggae is type of music that puts most people into a good mood, with the roots of the popular style coming from Jamaica, most people think of the palm trees, warm water and local herbs and Bob Marley. Learning Jamming is a great introduction to reggae for the begginer guitarist.

The music and lyrics seem to sooth the soul when you first hear reggae, and Bob Marley was the first superstar of this genre, and what put him ahead of everyone else was his ability to take complex situations and make them simple to understand and easy on the ears, this is what is considered to be a trait of the wisest of men, and that keeps the legacy alive of one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

Learning the timing of reggae is one of the first things you will need to do, and the up and down strumming on the guitar will take a little getting used to, but reggae has many songs to offer and when you put it together with bass lines, drums and percussion it has a beat and timing of it’s own that is fun and entertaining to learn.

Here is a video of Bob playing Jammin live. You can see he plays the main riff so that the chords are desending. He starts by playing the B minor on the 7th fret and then continues down the neck. It is always nice to see the performer playing it live because it gives you the confidence to play the same chord structure.
